Installation Positions for Reversing Rearview Cameras

Reversing cameras are a type of vehicle-mounted camera. Besides reversing cameras, vehicle-mounted cameras also include front-view, side-view, and full-vehicle view cameras.

Drilling Type Reverse Rear-view Camera

Installation Method:

The first-phase reverse rear-view camera is circular in design and requires drilling a hole with a diameter of 26-32 millimeters in the middle of the car bumper for installation. Therefore, this generation of cameras was later simplistically referred to as "drilling type cameras."

Technical Features:

The theoretical wide-angle data is around 120 degrees, but in reality, it's only about 100 degrees, unable to fully cover the blind spots behind the vehicle. Some may assume that larger diameter cameras yield better results, but in fact, the diameter doesn't directly correlate with the camera's lens or resolution.

The advantage of this generation of reverse rear-view cameras is their better anti-theft performance. However, they lack aesthetics as they don't match the original bumper color and cannot be easily upgraded. When replacing these cameras, the previously drilled holes aren't easy to repair.

Some car owners mistakenly believe that reverse cameras with a ring of infrared lights offer better night vision. In reality, the external infrared lights serve only as passive auxiliary lighting. In night-time working conditions, the display inside the car only shows a white image, particularly when there's sufficient light behind the car, resulting in a glaring white circle (technically known as a flaw effect), making it unable to achieve good night vision.

External Mounted Camera

Installation Method:

This type of camera simplifies the installation process by directly embedding it above the car's license plate frame, hanging externally on the rear decoration strip of the tailgate. It doesn't require drilling, preventing damage to the car's rear bumper, but it still needs two screws for fixation. However, routing the reverse video and power cables into the vehicle poses a significant challenge.

Technical Features:

In terms of technology, this type of camera hasn't seen significant improvements compared to the first generation. The display quality of the reverse video is similar, using the same chips. The color reproduction isn't vibrant, and there's noticeable image distortion. Although the wide-angle has slightly improved, the visual angle remains around 130 degrees due to chip and lens compatibility issues.

License Plate Frame Mounted Reverse Camera

License Plate Backup Camera represents a breakthrough in appearance and technical indicators, installing without any damage to the basic vehicle body and having an aesthetic appeal.

Installation Method:

Directly affixes above the car's license plate frame using the original screws, seamlessly integrating with the frame's appearance.

Special-purpose Reverse Camera for Specific Vehicles

This specialized camera is designed for specific vehicles. By continuously modifying molds based on the most suitable installation position for each vehicle model, the camera becomes integrated with the entire vehicle body. The product covers more than 200 vehicle models, such as Hyundai Santa Fe, Volkswagen Skoda, and Toyota Reiz.

Installation Method:

Tailored for different vehicle models, it follows a one-car-one-mold development model, perfectly combining individuality and practicality. Installed at the original location of the license plate light, it better matches the original car. It doesn't affect the use of the original license plate light, using more power-efficient and durable LEDs to replace the original lights.

Technical Features:

All cameras undergo pressure tests in six meters of water depth, leak-proof tests, shock resistance tests, and extreme temperature tests from minus 30 degrees to 80 degrees Celsius before leaving the factory, ensuring the quality of each product. This generation of cameras maximizes non-destructive installation, avoiding wire stripping and rewiring. It uses a specially designed wire card connection for convenience and safety, preventing potential issues like electricity leakage, wire breakage, and short circuits from traditional installation methods.

The specialized reverse camera offers a viewing angle of 170 degrees, good night vision, and enables clear visibility of the rear surroundings in pitch-black conditions with the assistance of reverse lights and auxiliary lights.
