Why Should Excavators be Equipped with Cameras?
Why Should Excavators Have Reverse Cameras?
Cameras provide operators with safety, convenience, and enhanced visibility. The cameras on excavators offer an aerial view of their surrounding areas. Additionally, they help operators avoid collisions with objects or workers hidden in the environment. Furthermore, cameras on excavators assist operators in maintaining the machine's optimal performance.
How Does the Excavator Camera System Work?
The excavator camera system consists of a wireless display and four wireless cameras. These cameras monitor the surrounding environment while the excavator operates, displaying images and videos in real time on a high-definition digital monitor. The MDVR features monitoring and alarm functions, supports voice intercom, in-vehicle phones, and remote monitoring capabilities.
The construction industry benefits from excavator camera systems. They are used to monitor excavator operations, pinpoint faults when anomalies are detected, eliminating hazards, reducing maintenance time, lowering maintenance and repair costs, improving work environments, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Different Types of Cameras for Excavators
There are various types of cameras used for monitoring excavators, such as single-lens cameras, dual-lens cameras, side-view cameras, and rear-view cameras. Single-lens cameras are easy to deploy and maintain at construction sites. Additionally, they can connect to network interfaces and display in split screens within the cabin. Single-lens cameras are used to monitor the rear of excavators to determine their precise posture. On the other hand, dual-lens cameras can detect target distance without identifying the target. Moreover, their distance measuring accuracy is far superior to the estimated distance calculated by single-lens cameras using deep learning.
Side-view cameras make areas adjacent to the machine visible, enhancing the driver's visibility. This improves maneuverability and safety since the driver can see obstacles before they come into view. They can also be combined with rear-view cameras to provide a better field of view.
