How to Troubleshoot Blurry Reversing Cameras?

If the reversing camera appears blurry, usually, there are several situations to consider:

  • Dust on the lens of the reversing camera.

  • Moisture or fog inside the lens of the reversing camera.

  • Prolonged use of the camera leading to poor sensor light sensitivity.

Most reversing cameras available in the market are generally waterproof. However, some small factories or counterfeit camera products might have poor sealing, resulting in inadequate waterproof performance. If the waterproofing is insufficient, removing the camera and resealing it with adhesive can resolve this issue.

If snowy interference appears on the reversing video, the most likely issue is poor installation of the wiring, often caused by poor connections. It's also important to check if there is dust or dirt on the reversing camera or if there's a problem with the reversing system itself. In the worst-case scenario, sellers might have tampered with the original imported reversing system. It's best to have a thorough examination at the dealership where the car was purchased with continuous monitoring.

Additionally, check if the DVD and camera video formats are consistent. Inconsistencies in format can lead to issues such as black and white images or snowy interference. If the format settings remain inconsistent despite correction attempts, it's likely that the imaging chip of the camera has malfunctioned and requires repair.

Generally, the blurriness of the reversing camera is mostly unrelated to wiring issues. The primary function of the reversing image is power supply. How can there be a wiring issue? In the mentioned situations, it's highly likely due to issues with the sensor. Try replacing the sensor to see if it resolves the problem. Typically, encountering these issues involves water ingress, decoding transmission issues, or signal interference, although the latter possibility is less likely.

Unless it's a black screen, flickering, or jumping, it's usually not related to wiring problems. In most cases, it's related to reasons such as abnormal chip function, dirt, watermarks after washing the car, water ingress, among others, leading to the blurriness of the camera.
