Enhancing Truck Reversing Safety with Jeavox

The blind spot issue of large vehicles has long been a concern for the industry and society. Large commercial vehicles (trucks, lorries, etc.) have extensive visual blind spots, posing high risks when reversing and easily leading to traffic accidents. Governments and non-governmental organizations worldwide have issued guidelines aimed at instructing truck drivers on safe reversing methods, such as installing blind spot mirrors, mastering steering wheel techniques, or avoiding reversing whenever possible. However, for truck drivers, the safest and most feasible method for reversing currently remains G.O.A.L. (Get Out And Look) - getting out of the vehicle to observe and thoroughly check the surroundings for potential hazards within the blind spots.

Truck bodies are lengthy and typically comprise two parts - the tractor and the cargo trailer. They face significant electromagnetic interference: encountering interference from multiple sources of noise, including refrigeration units and even power cross-connecting cables linking the tractor and the trailer.

Next, let's explore how Jeavox has tackled the three major challenges of equipping trucks with rearview cameras.

Challenge 1: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

Standard cross-connecting cables between the vehicle body and the trailer exacerbate the already harsh electromagnetic environment. To address this challenge, we have implemented unique digital signal processing technology (DSP) capable of achieving balanced signal distribution. The employed DSP technology boasts three key features: Just-In-Time Noise Cancellation (JITNC), High-Order Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM), and Dynamic PHY-Level Retransmission.

The combination of these three features empowers our reverse system to offer optimal resistance to electromagnetic interference, enabling implementation on existing truck link cables without requiring custom-made cables.

Challenge 2: Vehicle Body Separation

As trucks consist of two independent parts - the tractor and the trailer - the rearview camera needs to resolve cable connectivity to ensure stability between the driver's cabin and the trailer.

Our reverse system utilizes standard cross-connect cables on the truck's carriage, ensuring stable video transmission from the rear of the carriage to the front driver's cabin. Jeavox supports data transmission within the existing truck structure and wiring, bridging between the carriage and the driver's cabin.

Challenge 3: Vehicle Length

Increasing data transmission distances exacerbates signal attenuation and faces more electromagnetic interference. This is a critical challenge when installing rearview cameras on trucks. However, our unique digital signal processor enables error-free high-speed data transmission over distances of up to 131 feet/40 meters while maintaining signal stability. This distance is sufficient to cover two standard trailer lengths of 48 feet/14.6 meters and 53 feet/16.2 meters.
