Artificial Intelligence - The Future of Road Safety

According to the United Nations, approximately 1.3 million people die in road traffic accidents every year. However, the UN suggests that by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, these numbers could be halved by 2030.

The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Road Safety

For decades, technology has been harnessed to aid drivers in safely operating vehicles. Over time, the technology utilized in commercial vehicle safety systems has seen substantial advancements. Currently, artificial intelligence (AI) leads the way in creating advanced and intuitive safety equipment.

The capabilities of AI are diverse, spanning from remote fleet management to object and personnel recognition.

While the initial adoption of AI in vehicle steering assistance systems was fundamental, rapid technological progress ensures that AI can be utilized to address issues, creating viable safety solutions for drivers and fleet managers.

Introducing artificial intelligence into vehicle safety systems (such as Jeavox's AC-301AI and CM-709HQ-BSD) helps significantly reduce the number of erroneous alerts that might otherwise be detected by less sophisticated products.

How Does AI Work in Jeavox AC-301AI?

The artificial intelligence used in Jeavox AC-301AI continuously gathers object detection data, such as the speed and distance between cyclists or other vulnerable road users and vehicles. Additionally, the Jeavox AC-301AI system incorporates other technologies to collect information like vehicle speed, direction, acceleration, and turning rate.

This data is fed into algorithms developed by our company to calculate the risk of collisions with cyclists and pedestrians near the vehicle.

The AI camera is active at all times, including when the vehicle is moving at speeds below 18 mph. Crucially, the collision protection functionality remains active regardless of whether the turn signals are on. This is particularly crucial as it is recognized that some drivers might avoid using turn signals to prevent triggering alerts, potentially putting vulnerable road users at risk.
